HISTORY...

Hamilton County was created in 1858 with the county and its county seat being named for Texas benefactor James Hamilton of South Carolina.

The hardy pioneers built towns and connecting roads to establish communities focused on commerce, education, and religion. Hamilton County has thrived on an economy based on farming and ranching.
